CHILD SUPPORT
The amount of a child support payment is based on many factors including income, custodial time shared, additional costs of the children, such as daycare, and your expenses, such as a mortgage.
Before you agree on a set sum of child support, please be sure that you speak with an attorney as there may be serious consequences to the entry of a court order for child support. If you are unable to and fail to pay the court-ordered amount of child support, there is the possibility of being convicted of contempt of court. Alternatively, if you settle for a lesser payment, you may accept a child support amount far lower than a Court would order based on California’s child support guidelines.
